teeth

The team of researchers from the University of Tokyo (Japan), led by Etsuko Ikeda have made laboratory mice regain their lost teeth by implant germ. It is a technique applicable to other organs considered ill or have suffered some accident.

know that in humans and mice teeth twice grow naturally. Baby teeth and permanent teeth. This third growth form from a seed, produced from cells taken from the jaw and cultured in vitro, which acts as a seed contains all the genetic information necessary for the growth of third dentition.

mineralization and strength of the new teeth is comparable to that of the natives, to the extent that in the experiments came to develop nerves that respond to pain, as explained by Ikeda and colleagues today in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Although currently only been tested on rodents, scientists predict that in the future this technique will put aside dentures and implants. Furthermore, it could lead to the development of any replacement organs.

invesigación hope that we can move forward and check the results in our own teeth body.
