FDA warns that smoking cessation drugs must have warnings on their labels

Public Health Institute (ISP) announced today that the U.S. Food Drug Administration (FDA) demanded that the producers drug Varenicline and Bupropion, Bupropion synonymous latter, used for smoking cessation and depression, mention new warnings on labels and leaflets, in the sense they may have neuropsychiatric adverse effects.

The ISP said that in Chile there are 2 registered drugs containing varenicline and 11 records containing Bupropion / Bupropion.

The FDA said the labels and brochures should be clear that the use of these drugs can cause serious neuropsychiatric symptoms, and include agitation, depression suicidal thoughts and behavior.
