U.S.: FDA publishes online drug names

The U.S. Agency for medicines and food products (FDA) began to publish on its website a list of drugs that are subject to assessment to identify potential risks announced the institution itself.

pharmaceutical companies, doctors or patients have led to the FDA drugs when they detect unexpected reactions in some cases harmful and dangerous.

These data will be provided to the public quarterly according to a text adopted by Congress with the intent to improve drug safety, particularly after the scandal of Vioxx, withdrawn in 2004 by its maker Merck after a series of deaths linked to this anti-inflammatory.

The fact that a drug appears on the list does not mean that FDA has determined that it contains a risk, but that the agency identified as presenting a potential risk, the agency notes.

The first list released Friday includes twenty drugs and can be found at http://tinyurl.com/5bu2om .
