Dentures accumulate data and adapt to user behavior

U.S. scientists have invented a system that will allow the brace gain experience.

Researchers at the University of Florida, U.S., stepped forward of the prototype prosthesis for people suffering from paralysis or have lost some of its members. They invented a system that enables computerized devices not only translate into movements of the brain signals, but also evolve. These devices are adapted to the brain with increasing interaction time with the machine and gain experience.

Rather than just read the signs the brain and direct them to a robotic hand or leg, as in other prototypes already exist, these new brain-machine interfaces may be adapted over time to the conduct of a person. This knowledge, which are incorporated over time, using it to help complete a task more effectively by acting as a sort of wizard.

The researchers published their findings recently in the journal "Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, where they explain how they have developed a model system and tested it successfully in rats.

so far the brain-machine interfaces were designed for "conversations" in a single direction between the brain and a computer, the brain was the one who communicated in both the computer executing the orders. The system developed by the engineers of Florida, however, allows the machine to take an active part in this kind of conversation.

According to Justin C. Sánchez, professor of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Florida and author of the study, this idea opens up all sorts of possibilities for how it will be possible to interact in the future devices that class.
